{"id":88,"date":"2012-08-21T21:12:26","date_gmt":"2012-08-22T01:12:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/wallyword.com\/?p=88"},"modified":"2012-08-21T21:12:26","modified_gmt":"2012-08-22T01:12:26","slug":"september-surprise-dish-on-tv","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/wallyword.com\/?p=88","title":{"rendered":"September Surprise: Dish on TV&#8230;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/wallyword.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/1965_TV_Programs.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-thumbnail wp-image-91\" title=\"1965_TV_Programs\" src=\"http:\/\/wallyword.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/1965_TV_Programs-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s that exciting time of the year when the new television shows launch in September!\u00a0 For geriatrics like me who remember the old print version of <strong>TV Guide<\/strong>, you\u2019ll recall we looked forward to late August when their big <em><strong>Season Preview Issue<\/strong><\/em> came out.<\/p>\n<p>The <em><strong>Season Preview<\/strong><\/em> carried detailed descriptions of each new series on the networks, and most of the series used to run at least half a season before they were cancelled.\u00a0 Yes, it was a thick magazine (these were made of paper, kids), which celebrated the launch of all the new comedy, drama and variety shows&#8230;and also had the easiest crossword puzzle anywhere.<\/p>\n<p>But\u2026.with a key Presidential election looming in November, most of the content of these series have been \u201cadjusted\u201d to fit what Washington thinks are burning issues for the &#8220;Amurrican&#8221; people. So, while you\u2019re Biden your time, holed up in your Baracks, eating Romney soup and looking up at ORyan&#8217;s belt\u2026go ahead and peruse\u00a0some highlights from upcoming series this fall on some of the major networks:<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Amazing Race<\/strong> \u2013 Representatives from different parties in every race vying for the same office while miraculously agreeing on platform positions; thus entirely confusing the populace<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Mentalist<\/strong> \u2013 What you have to be to figure out where the two primary parties stand on anything<\/p>\n<p><strong>American Dad and Family Guy<\/strong> \u2013 These titles fit both of this fall\u2019s presidential candidates and ironically, so does the phrase \u201ccartoon character\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Dancing with the Stars<\/strong> \u2013 Obama renames the Lincoln bedroom the Clooney bedroom, and has a gaggle of Hollywood actors over twice a week to cut the rug (but not the taxes)<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Big Bang Theory<\/strong> \u2013 The right-wing \u201cthinking\u201d behind owning an AK-47 to hunt bunny rabbits in your backyard \u2013 rat-a-tat, rat-a-tat, <strong><em>Bazinga!<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Hawaii Five-O<\/strong> \u2013 Despite high prices and a weekly dose of crime from drug lords to mobsters, everybody on the mainland who watches this show still wants to escape and live there year-round<\/p>\n<p><strong>Grey\u2019s Anatomy<\/strong> \u2013 Candidates show a deep void of grey matter while trying to define medical issues like &#8220;moment of conception,&#8221; &#8220;legitimate rape,&#8221; and a Georgetown Law grad\u2019s &#8220;birth-control deductible&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Mike &amp; Molly<\/strong> \u2013 What the world (or at least NYC) might look like if Bloomberg didn\u2019t eliminate large-sized drinks in New York<\/p>\n<p><strong>Private Practice<\/strong> \u2013 Brought to you by Kleenex; it\u2019s an angst-ridden group doctor\u2019s office after Medicare finally vanishes. But, let\u2019s remember that these characters didn\u2019t build this business alone; it was the infrastructure others created which helped them to be successful in the first place<\/p>\n<p><strong>Person of Interest<\/strong> \u2013 It\u2019s how voters selected candidates years ago when the political elections were focused on the best choice for office. Based on current political candidates, it\u2019s soon to be renamed \u2013 <strong>Lesser of Two Evils<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Criminal Minds<\/strong> \u2013 What each party\u2019s members believes the other party members possess \u2013 I\u2019m convinced both are correct<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Vampire Diaries<\/strong> \u2013 Shortly after the 2012 elections, no matter who wins, all of Washington\u2019s elected officials put the bite on the American people.<\/p>\n<p>\u2026.which leads to remakes and re-naming of the following shows \u2013 <strong>Two and a Half Men in a Tiny Studio Apartment; Scandal; 2 Really Broke Girls; Survivor; The Last Resort; Up All Night; America\u2019s Finding it Hard to Have a Funny Home Video<\/strong>; and the season-ending &#8211; <strong>The Good Wife Took off with the UPS guy.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Well, since it sounds like we\u2019re all in <strong>Jeopardy<\/strong> this fall \u2013 toss out the <em><strong>Season Preview<\/strong><\/em>, tell Alex Trebek you\u2019ll take \u201cWinning Lottery Numbers\u201d for $500\u2026and head off to <strong>Hawaii Five-O!<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It\u2019s that exciting time of the year when the new television shows launch in September!\u00a0 For geriatrics like me who remember the old print version of TV Guide, you\u2019ll recall we looked forward to late August when their big Season Preview Issue came out.
