With apologies to Clement Clarke Moore<\/span><\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

‘Twas the week before Christmas, when all through the house<\/span><\/p>\n

All the creatures were stirring, including our mouse;<\/span><\/p>\n

The stockings were created by April with flair,<\/span><\/p>\n

Since it will be St. Nicholas\u2019 first visit there;<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The bedrooms were cleaned up and repainted,<\/span><\/p>\n

It took several weekends and I nearly fainted,<\/span><\/p>\n

The house now looks great and is ready to roll,<\/span><\/p>\n

We made it by the 22<\/span>nd<\/span><\/sup>, oddly ahead of our goal.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Our children will return home to snuggle in their beds,<\/span><\/p>\n

While visions of Bloody Mary\u2019s dance in their heads;<\/span><\/p>\n

And mamma in her robe, and I in my cap,<\/span><\/p>\n

Plan to pass out after Xmas lunch for a long winter’s nap,<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The tree is all set with decorations in place,<\/span><\/p>\n

Its bushy as required by the woman who runs this place.<\/span><\/p>\n

Old time lights make it pretty like days of yore,<\/span><\/p>\n

Causing a 10pm visit to WalMart<\/strong><\/em> for more.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The guest list is for seven, plus five dogs in tow,<\/span><\/p>\n

Will the refreshed house survive? Gosh I don\u2019t know,<\/span><\/p>\n

We\u2019ve stocked up on paper towels and Febreez<\/em><\/strong>,<\/span><\/p>\n

With anticipation that the smell will make us wheez.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Five dogs on the lawn will create such a clatter,<\/span><\/p>\n

Every movement will likely involve stepping in a splatter.<\/span><\/p>\n

Our dogs range in size from beast to she-devil,<\/span><\/p>\n

Despite the size, the interaction is surprisingly civil.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Outside, the Fam will be praying for some new-fallen snow<\/span><\/p>\n

To create some kind of luster, hiding the lawn and \u201cobjects\u201d below,<\/span><\/p>\n

We\u2019ll be stepping lightly each day, much like a minefield,<\/span><\/p>\n

Clearly not wearing new Xmas shoes, but still needing to yield,<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Its Hudson and Peyton & Stella from Virginia,<\/span><\/p>\n

With Jackpot and Jellyroll who always win-ya.<\/span><\/p>\n

All over the porch, and running down the hall!<\/span><\/p>\n

Now dash away! dash away! dash away all!”<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Fam will gather for a seven fishes meal,<\/span><\/p>\n

With FullBellyBlog<\/a> leading the kitchen detail.<\/span><\/p>\n

On Xmas Eve and Day the food courses will fly,<\/span><\/p>\n

With our fridge full of grub, there will be plenty to try.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Of course the bar will be plentiful with Wally on point,<\/span><\/p>\n

There will be vodka, gin, bourbon, and lotsa wine in this joint<\/span><\/p>\n

Strict rules however, to keep the Fam in line,<\/span><\/p>\n

Drinking begins no later than nine!<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Xmas morning will come and Wally give\u2019s the team a whistle,<\/span><\/p>\n

And away they will party like they\u2019re riding a missile. <\/span><\/p>\n

But, all will exclaim, as the food and drink vanish from sight,<\/span><\/p>\n

Happy Christmas to all, and to all a good night!<\/strong> <\/span><\/em><\/p>\n
